Mallet Coach — Privacy Policy
Oregon Code & Design, LLC ("we") makes Mallet Coach. This policy explains what happens to information when you use it. The short version: Mallet Coach has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and we don't collect anything about you.
What the app keeps
Your exercises, favorites, practice history and scores, journal, students' results, instrument range and settings, and your first name if you add one. All of it is stored on your device. None of it is sent to us.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive on, that data syncs to your other devices through Mallet Coach's private folder in your iCloud account. Apple stores it; we can't see it. Delay correction, MIDI channel and play-through stay on each device.
Microphone
Mallet Coach uses the microphone only when you choose Microphone as the input (for an acoustic marimba or xylophone), and only after you allow it. The sound is analyzed on your device as you play to hear which bars you strike and when. It is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. You can turn microphone access off in the iPhone or iPad Settings app at any time.
MIDI controllers
Notes from your MalletKat, Malletstation or other MIDI controller are read on your device to grade your playing. They don't leave it.
Game Center
Game Center is optional (Settings → Game Center). When it's on, your best clean passes and your achievement progress are sent to Apple's Game Center under your Game Center profile, and other players can see your nickname and scores on the leaderboards. Apple's privacy policy covers Game Center. Turn it off in Mallet Coach or in the Settings app whenever you like.
Sharing
When you share an exercise or send your results, the file goes only where you send it (AirDrop, Messages, Mail and so on). A results file holds the name you type, the exercise, your passes and scores, and any note you add. We never receive these files.
What we don't do
No analytics, advertising, tracking or advertising identifiers. No third-party code or SDKs: the app is built only with Apple's frameworks. We don't sell or share data, and we don't run a server for the app.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They don't identify you.
Children
Mallet Coach doesn't collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Deleting your data
Delete exercises and results in the app, or delete the app to remove everything on the device. To remove the synced copy, open the Settings app → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage (or Storage) → Mallet Coach.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be in the app and on our website with a new date.
