Particle Music — Privacy Policy
Particle Music is designed to respect your privacy. This policy describes what information the app accesses and how it’s used.
What we don’t collect
We don’t collect personal information. We don’t use analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising. We don’t share any data with third parties. The app runs entirely on your device.
What stays on your device
- Scenes you save as presets (stored in the app’s local Documents directory).
- Scala scales you import (processed locally and stored in user defaults as parsed intervals; the original .scl file is not retained).
- Your preferences, layer names, and mixer settings (standard iOS user defaults).
Permissions
The app may request access to motion data for the gyroscope gravity mode. Motion readings are used only to update gravity in real time — nothing is recorded or transmitted.
Network activity
The app does not make network requests on its own. Tapping a link (Website, Contact Support) opens Safari or Mail and the usual network rules of those apps apply. The app itself never phones home.
MIDI output
Particle Music appears to other apps and hardware as a CoreMIDI source and can additionally advertise itself over Bluetooth LE when you enable it in Settings. MIDI output (notes, control changes, pitch bend) is generated from your scene and sent to whichever hardware or software you’ve connected — over USB, Inter-App MIDI, or a Bluetooth MIDI pairing you initiated. No personal data is included in these messages, and pairing happens directly between your devices.
In-app purchases
In-app purchases are handled by Apple’s App Store. Apple’s own privacy policies and terms apply to those transactions. We receive only the information Apple passes to us about whether a purchase is valid.
Children
Particle Music is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The last-updated date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be called out in release notes.
