Backwords — Privacy Policy
Oregon Code & Design, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Backwords mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.
The short version
Backwords keeps everything on your device. There is no account, no server, and no tracking. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
Recordings
The App records your voice only while you hold the record pad. Recordings — and the reversed copies the App makes of them — are saved on your device so History and Favorites can play them back. They are never uploaded. Deleting a clip or a game removes its audio files. Deleting the App removes everything.
Player names and scores
Names you enter on the game setup screen, along with scores, standings, and game history, stay on your device. They appear only inside the App and on graphics you choose to share.
Sharing
When you tap Share, Backwords renders an image containing a waveform, an optional player name and score, and the Backwords mark, then hands it to the iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent anywhere until you pick an app and send it yourself. Shared images never include audio.
Microphone permission
Backwords asks for microphone access the first time you record. Microphone input is captured only while the record pad is held and is used only to make the recording. You can change this permission at any time in the Settings app under Privacy & Security.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. Backwords receives only a receipt that says what you own so it can unlock the corresponding features. We never see your payment details.
Analytics and advertising
Backwords contains no analytics frameworks, no advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party code that collects data.
Data storage
All data created by the App — recordings, player names, games, scores, favorites, and settings — is stored in your device’s local storage using standard iOS mechanisms. This data is not backed up to our servers. It may be included in your iCloud or computer backups according to your device settings.
Children’s privacy
Backwords does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since nothing leaves the device, there is nothing for us to collect. The App contains no user accounts and no advertising.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will ship inside an App update with a new effective date and will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
