Trailbound Pack Planner — Privacy Policy
Oregon Code & Design, LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built Trailbound Pack Planner (“Trailbound”) as a commercial application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information we collect
Trailbound stores all data locally on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store your personal data. The types of information you may provide within the app include:
- Trip details (name, dates, location, notes, ratings)
- Gear and food inventory (names, weights, nutrition information, photos)
- Itinerary contact information (name, phone, email, address, inReach number)
- Trip photos and captions
- GPS coordinates for trip waypoints
iCloud sync
If you subscribe to Trailbound Pro and enable iCloud sync, your trip data, gear closet, and food pantry are synced across your devices using Apple’s iCloud Drive. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app settings.
Location services
Trailbound requests access to your device location to support trip planning features. Location data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
Camera and photo library
The app requests camera access for barcode scanning and photo capture. Photos are stored locally on your device and are only shared when you explicitly choose to export or share content.
Third-party services
Open Food Facts. When you scan a food barcode, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve product and nutrition information. No personal data is sent with this request.
Apple StoreKit. In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is not accessible to us.
Data we do not collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage data.
- We do not use advertising or ad tracking.
- We do not share or sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
Data sharing
You may choose to export trip itineraries as PDFs or export gear and food data as CSV files. This sharing is initiated entirely by you, and the content shared is under your control.
Data retention and deletion
All app data is stored on your device. Deleting the app removes all local data. If you enabled iCloud sync, synced data remains in your iCloud account until you manually delete it.
Children’s privacy
Trailbound is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
