Dog’s Best Friend — Privacy Policy
Overview
Dog’s Best Friend (“the app”) is made by Oregon Code & Design, LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Your information stays on your device and, if you turn it on, in your own iCloud account. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data, and there are no third-party analytics or advertising in the app.
What’s stored on your device
The app stores the content you create locally on your device, including:
- Dog profiles (name, breed, birthday, weight, color, nicknames, marks)
- Walks — routes, distance, duration, dropped pins, and notes
- Logged activities such as playtime, training, swimming, grooming, and dog-park visits
- Photos and audio clips you add
- Weight history, medications, appointments, vaccinations, food records, and vet details
- Tracker and identification records (AirTags, microchips, collars, registry information)
iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud Sync, your content is stored in and synced through your personal iCloud account so it stays consistent across your Apple devices. This uses Apple’s iCloud service under your Apple ID; we cannot access your iCloud data. You can turn iCloud Sync off at any time in the app’s Settings.
Location
Location is used only while a walk is active — including with the screen off or the phone in your pocket — to trace the route and measure distance, and it stops when you finish the walk. Your location is not sent to us. To show a local forecast, the app requests weather through Apple WeatherKit, which uses your approximate location.
Apple Health (optional)
If you allow it, finished walks are saved to Apple Health as workouts, including the route and an estimated calorie total, and the app reads your body weight from Health only to estimate those calories. This is handled through Apple Health and is not shared with us. Leave Health access off and nothing is written or read.
Photos and microphone
Photos and audio clips are added only when you choose them from your library, take them with the camera, or record them — to build your dog’s profile and gallery. They are stored on your device, and in your iCloud if sync is on. The app never records in the background or automatically.
Apple Watch
If you install the Apple Watch app, walks and logged entries made on your watch are transferred to your iPhone over Apple’s device-to-device connection. That data goes to your phone, not to us.
Purchases
The one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited dogs is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information.
What we don’t do
- There are no user accounts.
- There are no servers operated by us.
- There are no third-party trackers, analytics, or advertising.
- We do not sell or share your information.
Your choices
You can grant or revoke Location, Health, Photos, Camera, Microphone, and Notification access at any time in the iOS Settings app, turn iCloud Sync on or off in the app’s Settings, and remove data by deleting individual items or the app itself.
Children’s privacy
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date above reflects the current version.
